This book is inspired by the relationship between rising aggressive culture in rap and the religious idealization and extravagance of the renaissance. This piece takes the form of a bible which explores the similarities of extravagance, relationships, martyrdom and immortality all in the name of Gospel, in becoming the True G.

Typography is influenced by renaissance architecture combined with urban styles. Ornate, their representations are married with a series of narrative essays from prominent authors of the academic text ‘The Black Church and Hip Hop Culture.’ Various lyrics accompany key issues and topics emphasized through out the book as quotes and affirmations reminiscent of the good book of moral parables and life codes.

This is Gill Swagchez. Mr Swagchez is a strange and mysterious mer-creature who loves to party. He’s been body-shamed and barred from the Black Lagoon Pool Party for inappropriately tight speedos and casual attitude for sliming anywhere and everywhere. Mr Swagchez has been residing in the sewers and drainage system of the local public pool since the day disco died (July 12th 1979) There he resides among the soggy bandages and damp mould, luring people into the drains with siren disco grooves. Those who have stumbled across this mythical, albeit wildly inappropriate creature have said that “he’s one fishy bastard.”
